These installed works hope to redefine our collective standards of appreciation by featuring the qualities, narratives, and/or materials of a given circumstance - as it pertain to the understated or unseen elements of the built environment

Underhangs

City Branch Tunnel

Under-Hangs was a series of site-specific installations, suspended into the SEPTA City Branch Tunnel, in Philadelphia. Each of these suspended clusters of cord are intended to invite observant eyes into a rendered form (above) to act as a temporal catalyst for observation, investigation, conversation and realization of complex inter-dependance at a single location

Under-Hangs was created in collaboration with Hidden Cities and the South Eastern Pennsylvania Transportation Authority

Oscillate

form/space niche

A series of sliding doors
A locked concrete chamber
Colored filaments, oscillating
Filaments descend within parameters

Oscillate consisted of hundreds of colored filaments, suspended (in motion) within a dormant exhibition locale.  The completed installation utilized color and motion to attract the attention of passing pedestrians, into the nuanced details of an otherwise vacant concrete chamber

Ci-Lines

st andrews chapel

Ci-Lines was a series of cords, woven between existing architectural details inside the shuttered St Andrews Chapel, in West Philadelphia. The resultant woven connection became a catalyst for gathering and sharing experience—a social congregation in a space originally intended for religious congregations

Ci-Lines was created in collaboration with University City Arts League, the Penn-Alexander School and partnering support from Lori Waselchuck

Site-Lines

art in the open

Site-Lines was a series of site-specific installation, inspired by the existing conditions along the Schuylkill River, in Philadelphia. Each installation consists of a series of cords in tension, anchored to constructed elements along the river 

At each site, Site-Lines are articulated to invite observant eyes into a sculptural expression of form and act as temporal catalysts for observation, investigation, conversation and realization of complex inter-dependance at a single location.  Site-Lines was created in collaboration with AiO Philadelphia

Cedar String

nepo 5k

Created in collaboration with artist Keith MacLean, Cedar String was a and interactive re-construction of a 10-years removed tree trunk.  Designed using the adjacent telephone pole that necessitated its removal, the reconstructed tree trunk exists as a specter of the tree that once was

The sculpture is visually referential -- and creates an interactive play pieces, as well as a confined standing room space for curious passers-by.  Cedar String was created in collaboration with the NEPO House and the 2013 5k

Purple Rail

georgetown spectrecle

Purple Rail was a temporary occupation/installation of a segment of track, along one of the original rail lines in Seattle.  Designed to highlight the dimensions and components that assemble railroad tracks, the "web" of purple cable invited people to explore the minutia of this abandoned corridor

Purple Rail was created in collaboration with Spectrecle visual arts tour - and shared the halloween stage with the Haunted History Tour, in Georgetown

sway

nepo 5k

Created in collaboration with architect and artist Anna Koosmann, sway was an interactive re-interpretation of a traditional swing.  Designed in response to the form and structure of to the Deajeon Pagoda, the swings have no clear instructions of use - which generated a wide array of reaction, interaction and creative engagement

sway was created in collaboration with the NEPO 5k - and shared the Pagoda with the brilliant sound piece by Nat Evans entitled - Record and Response

Amidst

city arts festival

Amidst is a series of visual interventions that unveil unseen aspects of the urban landscape.  Through the use of web-based photos and QR code technology, this collaborative shares elements of a cities past or hidden environments in an interactive context

Amidst is continually looking to new cities to identify alternative points-of-interest that will allow for people to explore and to appreciate the city in a new way

a'void

form/space atelier

Created in collaboration with architect and artist Anna Koosmann, a'void stands behind a translucent veil of green neon.  The unique spatial character of the gallery inspired the creation of a holistic series of independent gestures - derived over a half year of analysis and observation
