Field of Dreams is a participatory installation created to invite visitors to share a personal message of hope and optimism with the land — and piloted at the Queen County Farm Museum, in Queens NY.
At the Queens Farm, Field of Dreams reshaped one of the farm’s primary planted landscapes and guided visitors through a peaceful meadow, and invited them to share a message of hope with the land, to inspire a better future. The installation itself consists of a series of planted messages, marked by a wooden stake, to inspire visitors to wander through the Field of Dreams and to remind us of our shared hopes and dreams for the future.
“Projects like these help to remind us to always keep our dreams in focus and to never lose sight of our shared pursuit of a better future…”
Each individual message is written on botanical seed paper and buried into the earth by a wooden stake adorned with streamers to inspire a sense of connectedness to the land and to humanity. The resultant Field of Dreams will be visible from afar with streamers buffeted in the wind to remind one another of our shared hopes and dreams and connections to each other.
“…art has a profound ability to inspire and engage and ‘Field of Dreams’ is a public invitation to share messages of hope and optimism with each other…these words remind us to keep our dreams in focus and to never lose sight of a better future”
Field of Dreams was developed with Illegal Art and in partnership with the Queens County Farm Museum — with funding support from the Queens Council on the Arts.
